Running Fans and Water Pumps??? My fan occassionally runs for a few added seconds after turning off the ignition . . . I read in an earlier post on this thread that the water pump sometimes runs for minutes after shut down.

I something wrong with my Clubby-S if the pumps not running?

DID YOU NOTICE A DIFFERENCE WITH THE M7? I TRIED THE UNDER HOOD THING, BUT THE THERMO-TEC ADHESIVE MELTED WITHIN 2 DAYS.

IS YOUR TURBO WRAPPED ALSO?

THANKS.

Does it just one day reach a given temp and the thing just melts or does it slowly happen over time a little every day?
I have an 09 JCW and I have noticed over time that the middle of the top of the scoop where it meets the bonnet is slowly dipping. In seam used to be a nice straight line and now there is a slight dip in the middle. You have to point it out, but it is obviously there and it is getting worse. I have 5k miles on mine and will ask for a warranty replacement. I figure if I get it recorded as a defective part, I can argue for replacements even after the waranty is over several years from now.

M7 just got $200 of my dollars. That scoop really does get hot as hell. I love this forum.

Replacing 09 bonnet scoop?

I would like to install a carbon fiber bonnet scoop on my 09 Mini S. Does anyone have any tips on changing out the OEM scoop?

Took my '09 w/22K R55S in for aux water pump/chain tensioner/hood scoop warp on Tuesday. MINI of Austin attended to the first two issues (while I waited, in just two hours... color me impressed), and ordered the scoop.

When it gets here, I'll report back if it's plastic, metal, or silly putty.

Hood bonnet scoop warping issue

Took my '09 into the dealership due to warped bonnet scoop. I expected some comment from the service representative such as "that is normal" or "bring it back if it gets worse". Completely the opposite - he explained that the warping was due to poor design. And, that the replacement scoop was constructed with better material with an additional heat shield to prevent any further issues. Very happy customer.

So, did they have one sprayed and waiting for you?

I just noticed a dip in the top of my scoop - how bad does it have to be before they will replace it under warranty?

If you can notice it, it's bad enough to be replaced under warranty.

Mine will be out of factory warranty at the end of October so I'd better get it looked at soon.

I meant to take a good pic of mine (warped scoop) before my replacement came in, but I forgot.

The scoop on my 2009 R55 was replaced yesterday (as were the bonnet stripes), and the sunroof seals were replaced today, all under warranty. I should have the car back tomorrow.

Me too. I also hope they installed the upgraded heat shield that some seem to get and others don't.

Looks like I'm getting about $3000 in warranty work done when it's all finished. Hood scoop and stripes $400? Sunroof seals $500? Seat pressure-sensor (when it arrives from Germany) $2000? Realign master cylinder $100? Don't know yet if they did anything about way optimistic fuel gauge (sender, recalibrate?). I even complained about the crappy Sirius-XM sound quality, just in case (more compressed-sounding than a $25 MP3 player).

My MINI warranty expires next March, so I'm trying to get all the faults taken care of in advance.

I'm glad the dealership gets paid for MINI's faulty engineering.

But I do love my car.

I had my scoop replaced under warrantee. The dealer asked I wanted to pay extra for the heat shield, which I thought was crazy. I told him the scoop would melt in another two months and they'd have to replace it again. He said Mini would not comp the heat shield. I paid the $38 myself.

Crazy.

If MINI fixes my hood scoop for me I would be willing to pay $38 for the heat shield.

February of this year. Valentine's Day to be exact. I guess I showed some love to the car on that day.

Picked my car up today. The hood scoop and heat shield were both covered under warranty... and under the watchful eye of a MINI auditor who was doing a warranty audit of the dealership this week (which passed with flying colors).

Can you post up a photo of the new heat shield?

Have you had the turbo's aux water pump fixed? That's a major recall that the dealer will catch.

I don't know what all that has been done to it - it's a lease return and I bought it for my wife on Memorial Day.

Have you listed your ownership with MINI? In the Driver's Lounge (after you've registered as the new owner) you can download the service history (IIRC).
