Driver Side Window not going down when door opens/closes

My driver side window no longer goes up or down when I open the door, therefore when the door is closed, the window hits the lip on the top of the car. This can be prevented by manually lowering the window, but has anybody else had this problem, or know of a quick fix... I assume it would be covered under warranty, but I am a ways from my nearest dealer and figured if it was easy, I could save myself the trip... I just bought my car, so I havent figured out all the in and outs of it yet, so maybe its something I am missing???

The passenger side works fine.

I think there is a way to 'reset' it, but I don't have an owner's manual to check. If I remember correctly, you have to lower the window and hold the switch down for x seconds and then raise it or something like that.

I know this isn't much help, but hopefully it will help someone else remember the details.

You can do a quick search on NAM for this. My window motors stick when it's hot out... If you bang the door panel, flipping the toggle switch up at the same time it will unstick. If that doesn't work, then it may be something more

There is a FAQ on the subject over at MINI2.

Link to MINI2 FAQ

It says to press and hold the window switch in the up position. If you do this with the door open you'll know it worked because the window will drop again like it's supposed to. If you do this with the door closed then it should drop when you open the door.

Good luck.

You would be surprised how many MINI owners did not know about this 5 second fix at the MTTS. Someone told me that he has been using the door/window like that for the last 6 months since he was out of warranty. I just went into his car, turned the key, hold the switch for 5 seconds and voila... I got a free drink for that
