How to break in to a glove box
I've been looking through the forums, and it looks like I have a problem opposite to most. While a lot of glove boxes won't stay closed, mine won't open.
I went to open it yesterday, and it made a horrible noise and didn't move. I've never locked it, but I tried the key and it doesn't seem to affect it at all. I have some urgent work stuff in there so I decided I would force it open. I gave up on this after about 30 seconds, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and the trick or treating families that were walking past me were becoming very suspicious.
Has anyone done this before? I figure I can let the warranty sort it out and just pry it with a screwdriver, but I'm wondering if maybe there's a better way...

I was so sure I replied to this a couple weeks ago, so strange
Anyway, I didn't have much time and really needed to get into the glove box to grab my work stuff that was in there, so I grabbed a hammer and screwdriver to force it open. I set the hammer and screwdriver down on the driver's seat and sat in the passenger's seat, and gave the glove box one last desperate kick and shake before I started using the tools.
The mini must have realized what was going on because it opened, somehow the catch moved the right way. The latch pieces were all loose and I put them in a bag, taped the glove box closed, and a week later got it to the dealer where they fixed it.
So I lucked out, and I suppose the mini did too...
