15K Service???

I recently received the following e-mail from my dealership:

"According to our records, your 2006 MINI Cooper S will soon be due for a 15k Mile Service:

Our factory trained technicians will perform all the required maintenance items recommended in your owner's manual, as well as inspect other important and safety related components. Proper maintenance with genuine MINI factory parts helps keep your Cooper S operating at peak performance."

I thought all MINI service was driven by the service computer?

I have e-mailed the dealership, but I have not received a response?

Has anyone heard of a 15K service?

That email was generated by the conditions of your driving. Assume that you had your car in for service with 4000 miles. Then, you brought the vehicle back in for service 3 weeks later with 6000 miles, due to you taking a road trip. The email is sent out using this type of measurement [ amount of time it would take you to reach the 15k mile mark]. Hope this helps.

My service intervals on the dash jumped to 15,000 miles after the first 10,000 miles. Never use them as I do service myself at 4,500 to 5,000 miles.

I'm not sure what 15k mile service is... to my knowledge, it consists of an oil change (I've been changing my own oil since 1500 miles. I change it about every 2-4k miles depending on how hard it's been driven, and whether i've taken the car to the track).

I received a letter telling me that I was near to needing my 15k service. Since I had it in at 10k for the "free" oil change and the indicator said that my next service was in another 15k (at 25k), I called a SA at my dealer. The SA said that the 15k service was a BMW one and that for some reason I may be listed in BMW's records as a BMW customer. It makes sense as I get email promotions about BMW clothes and such but none from MINI. So, next official service is at the 25k mark although there will be an oil change in between.

As it turns out, the dealer computer just sent an automatic e-mail even though I had the 15K service. No additonal service needed.
