Missing Tranny Bolt?

Would some one with an 07, manual transmission go look underneath their car. Right near the part of the exhaust with the "wrap" around it, in the center bottom portion of the transmission halves, is there an empty bolt hole? Directly underneath this empty threaded hole his a little bit of yellow paint and a litte green paint.

I was changing the oil today and noticed this. There doesn't seem to be any fluids leaking. It's the area shown in the red circle. A bolt the size of the one directly above/left of the red circle would fit in this.

Thanks!

mine is like that too.

when I first brought my mini home it had a bad "oily" leak. I crawled under that car and saw the missing bolt on the tranny and "oily" residue all around it....I assumed that's where the leak was.
long story short the dealer determined I had a rear main seal leak, and the missing tranny bolt wasn't missing and was supposed to be that way.
still doesn't make sense to me why there is an empty bolt whole, but it's supposed to be that way.

Thanks for checking.

Since the engine and tranny is installed at the factory from below, lifted up into the car, maybe this bolt hole is used to bolt it to the chassis they move around in the factory before installation.

I have the same "missing" bolt. If any of the adventurous (or compulsively helpful) can or have confirmed that this is normal, I'd appreciate it!

BTW, Mine is an '08 Clubman, Non-S.

missing bolt...

Seems perfectly normal. I have a 2008 MC with the "missing bolt", meaning there is a threaded socket located near the oil drain plug.

I seem to be missing the same bolt and there appears to be a slight oil drip from that location as shown in my attached pic. The blue area is where the oil(?) builds up and starts to drip from.
