What year MINI? If it's 05 or later, the keys charge in the ignition. Maybe try leaving the key in one night to charge it?

it is an 05. I don't think it is a remote battery issue the car gets driven 100 miles a day. Any other suggestions.
Thanks No More NRG.

I have tried both FOBs and when I lock the car both locks lock. When I come out to unlock via FOB sometimes the pass. side unlocks but the driver does not.
If i am inside and use the power lock feature (button) it has the same effest. The inside handle lets me out, and i can use the key in the door to get in.
I really hope this helps.

Sounds like a bad drivers side lock solenoid. From what I have read this is a known problem. Any chance still under warranty?

Yeah! Thanks to the good ole extended warranty. The MINI has 70,000 plus miles on it. I am just now getting the ill effect of a lot of miles. Are the acctuators air or mechanical. I don't know much about these I used to have a VW GTI and the acctuators were air acctuated.

Most fun anyone could have in such a little car.

I would think it would be electrical. I have seen a parts web site maybe someone could chime in with it. Good luck

Yeah, they're electrical. Try doing a little searching for the problem. I think there are some pretty good posts on it.

Not sure this is your answer but I had a BMW that my fob stopped unlocking. I suspected the fob battery but even after I changed it, no good. I ordered another very expensive extra key/fob which still didn't work. A salesman overheard me discussing the problem w/ the service mgr and promptly replaced a fuse and voila... all is good. The fuse was the one that the gas cap door used to tell you the door was open. Somehow... only bmw knows for sure, that fuse also worked the door key fob. This may not help but hey... anything is worth a try to save the $$ of purchasing a new key for $225. Good luck.
