Trunk Light Doesn't Go Off

I just got the 2008 mini cooper yesterday, last night I found out that the trunk light was still on even after i everything was locked and turned off. I tried many ways to prevent that, I even start to drive the car and the trunk light was still on when the mini is moving. i couldn't figure out why so i ended up taking out the light bulb of the trunk light in order to prevent battery drainage. and today I experience some sign saying that the hatch is not completely closed, so i double checked it, it was closed tightly. does anybody know how to solve the problem? please help.

If the hatch is indeed closed completely (slam it hard), it sounds like whatever switch/sensor is used for that hatch isn't working right. Take a trip back to your dealer to be sure.
