a/c compressor not shutting off
Hi guys the a/c compressor on my mcs could not sense it was overheating. So was running all the time. Hence causing the rubber around the a/c compressor clutch to melt. As from what i know, the a/c compressor will automatically shut off when it gets too hot. I've just got a mechanic to replaced the unit with a new one. Is it my thermostat that is faulty? what the mechanic told me was

item number 3. The brand named Valeo thermique (W964178B). The one which look like a bullet, thats faulty. He took the part out from the back of the controls and cd player. According to him, that is a thermostat for the pump or something. But i do not trust what he says as he doesnt specialize in minis. What do you guys think? need some help! thanks!

Sorry, what is IHKA? so that is the device that shuts the a/c compressor off? when the a/c compressor builds up too much heat from running for a long time? thanks alot!

The IHKA(climate control unit/panel with the buttons) tells the DME(engine control unit), that you(the operator ) would like the AC on, or at least Defrost or something requiring compressor activation. The DME grounds the control circuit to the AC compressor relay, which in turn sends power to the compressor for activation. Really the best way to tell what's going on, unfortunately is to be able to communicate with all of the control units via a GT1 or DIS at the dealer or independant with the right equipment.
The DME controls the relay for the AC so that it can switch it off if the car is overheating, WOT, or the IHKA says that the EVAP temp is too low or AC high pressure is too high.
