Chug Chug Dies

My buddy has a 03 MCS and after filling his tank the car started a chug chug then died. He did leave the car idling while filling the tank. Now the check engine light comes on. Car seems to run fine but light is on. Is all ok or should he visit nearest dealer (300 miles).

I would recommend maybe trying to close up the fuel cap and drive and restart engine a few times to see if the code clears. Or get a scan tool and find out what code is being thrown. I would guess it had to do with the fuel door being open.

Putttn, if I topped-off my '05 MC, it would run horribly until the fuel level went down which was about 10 to 15 miles down the road. I still don't know what would cause that but after a couple of times, I stopped topping-off.

If you live in an area with Autozone Parts stores they will scan, read, re-set, codes for free!
