Plug Wire Mix Up

Alright so I decided to change my plugs and wires this morning. I replaced all of the spark plugs and wires with no problem (Done it many times before) Started the car and it was idling oddly and weak. Instantly knew something was wrong shut off the car and checked the plug wires. I had mixed up the 3 and 4 cylinder wires. I changed them around really quickly. Started the car up and it was running smoothly. However, the check engine light is now on. Do you think that I did any damage?
Thanks,
john

P.S.- Yes I feel like an idiot.

Nah I don't think you did any damage. Did the same thing myself awhile ago. I also felt like a complete idiot, mainly cause I work on cars for a living. Since you changed them back right away, no damage could've really been done, just freaked out the ECM. To get rid of the light just take it Autozone or some place that does free scans and have them clear the code.

There are misfire codes stored in your car ECU

I'd bet it's P0303 and P0304! Maybe a P0300.... But anyway, you'll be fine. I don't know if these codes will clear on thier own via a couple of drive cycles or if you need to clear them yourself. But just go and drive as normal....

FWIW, I put some little dots on my aftermarket coil to indicate what cylinder went to what coil post. Used some of the wife's nail polish... Shhhhhh... She doesn't know!

Matt thank you for the input. Ill just drive on it now. If the code doesn't go away I can go to my mechanic and he will reset them for me free.
Thanks Again,
John

Cool, but I just said what the others did too...

but if you're gonna keep working on your car, just get a code scanner. It's a "must have" tool in todays mechanics toolbox.
