overheating 2002

I'll try to keep this brief so people will actually read it...

Recently, I've had issues with my car (02 MCS) overheating. It only does so in traffic sitting at idle. Reason being the cooling fans are not cutting on. I read around, found out that if the power steering fan (bad design on the 02's) gets jammed or breaks, it trips the cooling fans and those will not work either.

So...I bought and put in a new power steering fan and assumed that would take care of it. Of course, I forgot the fuses.

all of the fuses have 14 volts and the relays have been replaced. i checked the power at the connection for the fan and i have nothing. the relay wasnt clicking on and i tried the other relays, i even opened the relay and tested the voltage which was fine and even manually tripped the relay and still nothing................... any ideas guys?

Have you had the ps fan and the rad fan circuit seperated? There was a recall that required they be seperated....my car was doing the same thing but once I had the two seperated, those issues stopped....i had to replace my ps fan also....
When they did my car, there is a extra fuse holder they installed/mounted by my dsc pump...do you have one of those? I think they did it for all the cars....cooper and S models.....

can you give me some more of the info on the recall? I haven't had anything recall related done since the airbag thing that the 02's had, and that was several years ago.

try to run voltage right to the fan from the fuse. if nothing then ; then time for a fan . better yet if you can put voltage to the relay and actuate it you should get the fan to spin,. if not i'd look at the sensor for the fan .
