Felt around the sunroof on exterior

Hey,

For those who have the sunroof, you'd know that ring of felt on the edge of the sunroof, that runs all the way around it. It's a felt like material, well today, after washing the MINI, I noticed that parts of the felt disappeared, and I'm left with this plain black rubber! Where did the felt go! Has this happened to anyone else? Usually will the dealer cover something like this, I haven't heard this happening before, but yep, it happened to me!

is it where the glass seals?
If it's worn and leaks water or air....they'll replace it.
I had a piece fall off from under the car and it was replaced.

Well, it's that felt thing that goes around the sunroof, look at your roof if you got the sunroof and you'll notice that between the sunroof and the body itself there is a ring of felt around it, the felt somehow disappeared, and I am left with rubber, I know there is suppose to be felt there!

No worries, you are not alone. Just got my Mini, and that as one of the first things i noticed.

I come from a background of older muscle, and the felt being worn out was fairly common. So you arent going crazy and your car doesnt suck.

If you are still under warranty i would try that out. They may not, b/c it may be classified as a 'consumable' peice. If they dont, and they quote you a price, post it up, b/c i would be intersted in the cost to replace that myself.

Mine didn't come off, but it rattles like crazy. Dealer said they "didn't hear anything unusual". Guess you got your answer. Must happen all the time.

That felt 'seal' on my sunroof still has most of its fuzz, but it is pushed down in some areas. I don't know how or by who. Anyway, when I tried, I couldn't raise the felt to an even level. It does not leak at all, so I gave up and stopped caring.
