Shaking mirrors - has anyone noticed?

Has anyone noticed that the side mirrors shake on their R56 during normal driving? I have the sport package, and I have noticed that they shake as if the bass was up too high on my stereo. Pretty strange.

Also, an update on my gas gauge. I will be taking it in tomorrow morning for a check up. I will also have them fix my passenger seat (it seems to be a little puckered on the bolster).

Puckered on the bolster? Sounds like a good name for a band.

I've not noticed the side mirror shake with standard MCS suspension.

The mirrors definitely shake when the door is closed. Watch for it next time if you haven't noticed yet. During normal driving on the stock suspension, there is some slight shaking/vibrating that occurs over road bumps, bass turned up a lot, etc. This is pretty normal. If you're concerned about it, take a trip to the dealer and have them verify that nothing is loose.

I paid very close attention to my mirrors yesterday when driving home and this morning when driving to work. No shake when going over some fairly rough spots on the road.

Thats cuz you are rockin out harder than your mirrors can. or maybe its because they are rockin out too. you must have quite a bit of bass. my old car did this, i just smiled. its just the bass kicking.

Thank You

Thank you for your answers, everyone. I also payed really close attention and have discovered that I am out of my mind. They really don't shake at all, only over jarring bumps! (Maybe my eyeballs are loose, I should take THEM back to my service advisor. MOM!)

Update on the Gas Gauge issue: I took the car in, and they said they would have to take the back seats out and the whole nine yards to get to the fuel sender unit, so I said, "Can't we do this another way?" (I don't want to create rattles by them screwing around back there). I said I haven't fully drained the tank down, and that I will do that and see if one of the floats is stuck or the like. They thought that was a good idea. So, Back to Baltimore to drain that sucker down and see if it fixes the issue. They also ordered new leatherette for my front seats due to the puckered bolsters.

I think many are thinking the whole side unit (including the black house and mirror caps...like checkered, union jack, etc) is shaking. But I think what is really meant is the mirror itself.
My mirrors (just the mirror part itself) shake a little too, but I think its all normal

I have noticed my side mirrors shaking too. It's a Clubman S with sport suspension and of course the 17-inch runflats. I wondered if anyone else had the problem. I can't remember ever seeing this on any of the cars I've owned. It seems ok unless I am going slow or sometimes idling.

I'm trying to ignore it, they don't seem loose.
Going on a road trip next week, just hope they don't shake off. Hate to go 130 miles to the dealer to have them check them.

Guys, I've driven many R56 coopers recently and I've noticed the same thing on all of them. The whole housing doesn't shake, just the mirror, but it appears worse than it is because over those bumps your head shakes slightly too making things look like they're shaking when they're not. That being said, the mirrors do actually shake and it's normal.

I noticed this within 5 min of taking my 08 MCS off the lot. The glass itself shakes, not the surrounding housing. On touching the mirror it feels firm and I am not able to wobble it by hand. I promptly returned to the dealership to alert them and had my SA take a ride with me to confirm that I wasn't seeing things. The thing that made me think something was out of the ordinary is that this occurs only on the driver side mirror, yet not the passenger side. Sense then, I have noticed that it even vibrates once the engine is started while still parked. On first return for service they tightened the mirror housing, but it did nothing for the issue. I am currently playing tag to schedule another service date while they are looking into the issue to see if anything can be done.

While driving on fairly normal surfaces it may continue to wobble for a good 3 sec following even a mild bump in the pavement (such as passing over road paved at separate times at township lines). This becomes an annoyance when checking the mirrors to change lanes on the highway, especially with continued bumps in the pavement.

Folding heated mirrors, stock MCS suspension on stock 16" rims and runflats

BF, that's funny. I went back to the dealer when I was driving it home because of an outside mirror issue too. For me though, I couldn't seem to angle the driver's side mirror glass up high enough for me. Back at the dealer though, another one on the floor did it too, so that was that.

I'll check to see if they vibrate on the way home tonight. I figure the one that's at the end of its travel may not.

My VW's inside mirror vibrated, so that if I really wanted to see something in back, I had to go to an outside mirror.
