ASC flashing during cruise

(I did the requisite search - no joy). Flashing ASC light while cruising. Car dogs, won't accelerate, etc.. Turning it off restores normal operation (thankfully). I think I have about one day left on warranty. Geesh. I just had a flywheel replaced last week. I wonder if it is related?

ASC uses the brakes, any problems there? Pads worn, fluids low? Maybe you can use
the flywheel replacement as a reason for the dealer to at least stretch the warranty
date. Assuming the dealer replaced it. I can't find any "trouble shooting" info on the
ASC in the Bentley Manual. Good luck.

WOW!! Talking about bringging a thread back from the DEAD!!

Problem was most likely a wheel speed sensor...do a quick search...it is a pretty common...often, the flat tire warning will come on shortly...since most R53's used the same sensor to count tire rpm's to determine tire inflation, and as an input to the DSC system. Sometimes it is called the "trifecta" cause the brake light will turn on since the same sensor is an input for the sensor to determine wheel rpm for anti-lock brake activation.....
A quick search should get you tons more info if you have the same or a similar issue!!

I totally get that I'm bringing it back from the dead...I've replied to a couple of other posts regarding the problem. I'm just trying to figure this out without a doubt before I order parts.

I got the trifecta yesterday. After a couple of days of having the ASC light flash on and off, accompanied by a loss of power (I could step on the gas and nothing would happen as long as the light was flashing...some people call this "limp mode"). How much of a PITA is it to change out the sensor? And does this problem usually occur on 2004 to 2006 Minis? I have a 2002 and don't want to go down the path of changing the sensors if this isn't typically the problem with cars of that year.

the sensor is down near the brakes...if you have done brakes, you should do OK on the sensor....
The only problem is that there is 4 sensors...and you do not know which one is bad/dirty. So you could clean them all, or find someone that has the tool to find which one is bad.

PS, just turn of DSC/ASC+T till it is fixed, and it should drive fine.
