What changes have you noticed after 1200 miles?

Just clicked over 1200miles today. Took a day trip to Southern AZ. It's kinda funny with the computer thing. First tank of gas computer showed 25 mpg, 2nd tank 26 mpg 3rd tank 27, decided to top off and now the computer shows 28mpg. Drove the car hard on the two lane and cruised 80 to 90 on Interstate, car seems a bit more loose. Seems to pull the rev range easier. It is definitely more fun to drive!

I have a Pure Silver/Black Top S....with 3,500 miles. The exhaust does indeed sound "throaty-er"as time goes by, and I feel the ride is actually smoother. I put ROH Adrenelian 17" black ice wheels on @ about 2,000 miles, and they are hands down the best investment I've made to this cooper s. My gas milage has be 26.7 mpg since the day I first drove it and remains at exactly the same setting. Go figure.

I just passed 1200 mi. on my MCS last Saturday, and now have 1350 mi on it. I really babied it during the break in period, shifting at no more than 4000 rpm, usually at between 3200 and 3800. I don't think I gave it more than 1/2 throttle until Saturday. At 1204 mi, I stomped on it, and can testify that this little car can really git it on. But when I'm driving it easy, it feels the same as it did at 500 mi. Same exhaust note, same ride, same acceleration. Except when I stomp on it.
Is there some kind of magical transformation that is supposed to take place at the stroke of 12(00)?
If this car didn't have a windshield I'd have bugs between my teeth from smilin' all the time.

>>How about in the regular Cooper? Has anyone noticed any big differences in them after 1200? I only have 220 miles on MINIclo, and am being gentle with her, but IT IS HARD! She wants to go faster! Hey MINIclo...Big Congrats to you... I'm at 4750k and she only gets better and faster. All is so very well I can barely stand it. LOVE-LOVE-LOVE!!!

1200 miles. I remember that day. It was the day after I took delivery on the way back to Denver from Westchester MINI in New York.
My Cooper S now has over 11,000 miles on the clock. Very nice to be able to really push the car hard. Also, just before I left for Canada (a little over 2 weeks and 3600 miles ago) I installed the MINI Madness MCS Cold Air Intake. The power gain is noticable, but the real benefit is that it smooths out the power delivery (especially 2nd gear), the throttle response is improved too, plus the supercharger whine is a little more pronounced (in a good way).
Lots of fun awaits us all.

Now with 2571 miles, the car feels nimble, and quicker than ever! I too babied it durring the break in period, keeping it under 4000rpm's. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the break in period seemed to end for me at 1250 miles when i had a sudden surge on the rev-band while on the freeway... Could this have been the computer unlocking, or just my imagination?

I'm trying to baby mine, but it's soooo hard... I keep the revs under 40k, (it's too hard to figure out where 45k is.....) but I have a serious problem not stomping the gas... oh well... But i'm only up to 300, (hey, I don't have time to drive except to work and school... i'll fix it this weekend though... ) and the shifting seems to be smoother already... nice... I think i'm going to up the air pressure a tad bit though... I equaled out the pressure yesterday (One of the tires were at 33, and the rest were all at 30), and it seems be be a tiny bit squishier...

On my MCS, I haven't noticed anything too remarkable at 1200 miles, except previously, at 70 mph in 6th gear, I was at 3000 rpms', now at 3000 rpm's, the speed is about 74 mph. Generally, things just get smoother and smoother as you drive and the car breaks in. This is the first car in about a dozen or so that I have owned that I like at least as much after two months as I did the first day!

Dave:
Where did you purchase the Cold Air Intake and how difficult is to to put on?

I have about 2200 miles on my Mini so far and I have to say that after the break-in period I noticed that the acceleration has improved remarkably. In fact, motoring gets better every day!
(Except for this morning when some idiot in a red VW turned without the turn lane.....almost right into the side of my Mini....and then some horrible woman in a white Jetta was being a total wench during rush hour traffic......)
I HATE BAD DRIVERS!!!!!!
Cheers!

the 1200 miles seemed to last forever. it is finally nice to get over it (last night, actuall)-
my tech said to drive the car hard up until the 1200, just not over 4500 rpms. the harder the better. it causes the seals to seat better on the rings. he says the worst thing to do is to set the cruise and go. you don't want consistant RPM's.
i love the MCS!!
