Alarm set off by using comfort access button on door handle

i searched for this subject, but couldn't find it.

last night i set off the alarm in my MINI by trying to unlock the driver's side door by pushing the rubber button on the door handle.

i've been doing the exact same thing for the past 2 weeks now.
plus when i tried to deactivate the alarm by pushing the unlock/lock/trunk buttons on the key fob, nothing happened. the alarm finally deactivated after 10-15 secs (maybe because of my button mashing). i don't even think the trunk release button on my fob works....

so what gives?

sounds like a funky FOB there sir...might be a trip to the dealership provided you can get the vehicle there. Might be as simple as having them reprogram the FOB?

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I had the same thing happen to me this morning. Then was unable to turn it off. Then after I started the engine the alarm sounded again. I have owned the car for 7 months and this was the first time. Thanks.
