nope not the only, there are others that do it too. We are working with a local guy that's been doing it for years.

Supercharger Waterpump gears/drive solution!
We now replace the 43 tooth & 24 tooth
water pump drive gears in the supercharger. We also
a gear replacement kit. We see this problem with the gears
on the MINI supercharger quite often. There seems to be
a problem with oil leaking out of the gear case. The sealant
used seems to be the problem.
We also offer a water pump gear/PTO gear replacement kit for $325.00
Kit comes with rebuilt rear plate (bearing,seal,43 tooth gear),
24 tooth gear, shaft seal,needle bearing,sealant,oil,magnetic
oil fill plug,etc.

As far as the gears go, it's our understanding that Eaton will not sell them separately. All manner of searching leads us to believe that the only option is a replacement unit.(GRRR...) Rebuilt or new, at a cost of as little as $1,200 and as high as $2,200 depending on where it's sourced from.
check them out - http://www.stiegemeier.com/pricing.html

From my recollection, at the time of the OP's posting, Stiegemeier did not offer rebuilding the waterpump, as Eaton was not giving out specs/parts to do so. Fast forward to now... we got choices!!!

Official notice: my supercharger froze!
The shop had a rebuilt one from the MINI dealer, and they wouldn't warrantee it because of the Webb pully, also it was $1,600! So, thanks to this thread, I'm getting a better rebuilt one from Supercharger Technologies for a much better price. I'll give a report.
The water pump had a small leak too, so now's the time for a new one.

We usually see of the superchargers we get in for rebuilding is the
gears are failing as early as 30K. The problem is the same on all
of these units - the oil has leaked from the gear box (water pump
drive gears / PTO gears). As far as I know we are the only company
that has replacement gears. We don't sell just the gears but we do
offer a rebuild kit which includes both gears, the rear plate (which is
also rebuilt), shaft oil seal, and a needle bearing for the PTO shaft.
We also rebuild the entire unit (2 year, unlimited miles warranty).
The gears do take between 250 - 500 miles to wear themselves in, so
they will make a little whining sound f until broken in.
Rebuilt Supercharger is $550.00 and the gear replacement/rebuild kit
sells for $325.00.

Rebuilt Supercharger
Thanks, and remember that the PTO gears take about 200 - 300 miles
to break in/wear in. So they will make a small whining noise until they do. If
for some reason they don't, just let me know a we will take care of the
problem. But so far the new gears have been working out great.
Thanks again for the business!

RE: Auto X Cooper
Thanks for the correction. I could not find information that anyone
else was replacing the gears. It is good to know that someone else
is doing it right (being that we see that about 50%+ that come in
for rebuild have serious wear or complete failure on the PTO gears).
**Many of the units that come in for rebuild have 80K+ miles - unless
they had the PTO gear box oil leak.
Thanks again!

Hello Tekron, based on your other posts it's time to look at your water pump and you may want to do the t-stat and housing at the same time. Skip the dealer and look for indy shop in your area.
If Helix is near by check with them

FYI - In case you don't already know, MCS sold and first registered in CA has a longer warranty through the Cal Emission Warranty... 7yrs/70k.
Sorry, don't know anyone in your region for SC rebuild.

Stripped out Supercharger
My 07 Cooper S Sidewalk, was diagnosed by Princeton Mini (NJ), to have a bad thermostat. They told me to keep an eye on my temperature. They wanted $650 to replace the Thermo.
After waiting a number of weeks I heard what I thought was a chattering heat shield for a few days. Then 30 miles away, I overheated. $350 worth of tow trucking later, I dropped it off at my local mechanic.
The mechanic, who after changing the Thermostat found that the coolant was still not flowing. He then thought it was the impeller in the water pump that had broken or melted.
I got a call from him today. He told me my water pump was not working because the oil had leaked out of my supercharger, which caused the gear powering the water pump to strip out. Princeton Mini never said anything about that. Seems that there is no way of knowing if the oil is present or not in the supercharger.
He is quoting me $2000.00 for the new super charger part only. And a total bill of over $4000.00 to fix the thing parts and install.
I am pissed off on so many fronts I don't know where to start!
Anyone want to make me an offer on an almost perfect Sidewalk with it's front end disassembled?
All kidding aside, I don't know what the F*** I'm going to do. Times are bad, the bank account is 3 digits these days.
Thanks Mini Cooper Quite some marvel of engineering on that supercharger!!!!!!!!!!
I miss my 200K mile Honda Civic right about now!
F*cked ..... right in the cooper!

A few summers ago I pulled my MINI's front end off & pulled the S/C to check oil levels in it. It was a long day's work but everything went well & was uneventful. If you're mechanically inclined you could pull your S/C & install a new/rebuilt one in a day. If you have the Haynes manual it's a matter of a little planning & getting a few key parts (S/C gaskets, etc.). You can see pics here.
If you're not up for this I recommend finding someone who is from your local MINI club (or local trusted mechanic) & see who can help you for a reasonable price or quantity of beverages.
