I have carpet floormats instead of the rubber ones. Ever since I took delivery, the driver's mat has been riding up under the pedals. Last night I looked on the underside of the mat and there are two velcro "loop" patches sewn there. I looked at the floor and there are two little plastic covers in the carpet which line up with the floormat patches.

Spoke to the Sales Mgr this morning and he said each set of carpet mats have velcro "hook" patches that fit in the holes in the floor and are supposed to keep the mat in place. For what ever reason, they usually throw them out instead of installing them. (?) So, mine are in the trash. He promised he would get me a set for my car asap.

So when you take delivery, check to see that the driver's mat is velcro-ed in place.

Perhaps, but this is the setup for all of MINI's carpeted floormats to it applies equally to all.

 

What will bother you more is the rubber mats have a hook type securing system, so you cant use the same plastic securing piece on the rug. Why they didnt just use the velcro on both is beyond me. But the rubber mats are so heavy and fit so well, I'm thinking of throwing the hooks out and putting the velcro patches back on the rug so I can use the carpeted mats whenever I need them. But I do like the ruber mats better, more solid/secure footing.
