Auto up windows quirk.

Ok, here's something for you. I get in my MINI with the windows down and start it up. I hit the auto up switches to roll up the windows and also turn the AC fan on high. The windows immediately reverse themselves and roll back down. Could this be a voltage drop problem? Maybe too much pull on the alternator? But if I turn on the fan first, the windows operate correctly. Strange...

I have noticed that it takes a few seconds (ten maybe) after starting before the alternator comes on line, so voltage could be low.

I have always had A/C left on from last run and have not raised windows immediately, so never saw what you mention.

I HAVE Noticed what sounds like a little 'Belt' squeal on inital start and will turn A/C off for next start to see if it makes a difference. I will then do windows before A/C and see what happens and report if I see this.

My old Chrysler would wait ten seconds from start before A/C Compressor would come on line, never noticed if its Alternator did the same.

Wonder what $$$ replacement of that A/C & Alternator '100K' belt might run?

I noticed that if I hit the auto-up for the passenger side window and try to close the sunroof, the window will stop at the half way point, no rhyme or reason...

Tried what zooki mentioned and A/C had no effect on AutoUp of both Windows. Did not hear belt squeal

Have many times done auto-up of both windows and sunroof operation without issue.

My sister has a Volvo and if you try to operate both power windows at the same time, it blows the fuse. Her Volvo Dealer says that is normal.
