Airbag Warning Light Problems

I started up a thread over in the Clubman Talk forum, but probably should have started it here regarding problems I've had with the aribag warning light in my new clubman...

here's a link to the thread, sorry for the double post.

This one is probably one of the easiest things to diagnose and fix in a car. There is little involved in this system. Airbags (which translate into a resistor), control module, impact sensors (usually mechanical) and wiring. Airbags are the most common problem, since the control module when the car is started checks for a certain amount of resistance in all of the circuits invloving an airbag, if one is off specs you have a light. Other is wiring or connectors. Then faulty module. The sensors/switches are almost trouble free until impact, and besides if one closes you would know (an airbag would blow). Also, this is all complemented with a thorough scanning!

air bag light

Yep, same here. With a full grown/full adult in the passenger seat, the "passenger side airbag off" lights up . Naturally, dealer could not duplicate it, so they did nothing as usual.

That may be a faulty weight sensor or problems with code, I sometimes get the fasten seatbelt sign with an adult on the passenger side and with the belt on, but never the airbag light!
