I just returned from a trip to the smokies today and look out at the car and the left side markers were all on. I got worried because I pulled off of the road once and hit the bottom of the car on the asphalt. I went to see what was wrong, and discovered that the blinker was left in the down position. I flipped it to the middle and the lights went out. Same thing happened when I flipped it to the right side markers. This is a design flaw that I'm sure some of you veterans know about, but this could kill your battery during the day if you don't catch it in the daylight.

 

It's actually a designed feature for european cars when they park on the side of very narrow streets at night.

 

Hmmm, that's interesting. Although, I don't see anything in the manual about it.

 

Standard European lighting setup. Very narrow streets in the old cities, so you flip your turn signal to the side that faces traffic to make it easier for others to wend their way thru the parked cars. I remember having to park my Audi 100 with the wheels up on the sidewalk to make sure there was room to get by.
