Oil Pressure Sender?

Oil Pressure Sender?
Alright, about 2 weeks ago I changed my oil. Did the whole deal, started car, light went out, moved on with life. ( ) A few days ago, I was out after driving for a bit. I stopped at my local grocery store, got my stuff, and when I left, I started my car and noticed the light stayed on. I quick shut it off thinking the worst. For the fun of it, I started it again, and it went right off. Most of the time, if I start it in the morning, it goes off and stays off. About 1 in every 10-15 times, it'll come on and stay on. Same deal: shut it off, wait 10 seconds, restart, stays off. Any ideas?

Well, now that I see this, I may just spend the $16 and do it instead of screwing around.

Alright, it's doing it a little more often now but same as before. Shut it off, wait 5-10 seconds, restart and it goes away. Sometimes I may have to restart it twice but it never stays on after that. Also, there is an occasional tapping from the top end but it sounds like more of a sticky lifter, Any opinions and are these 2 related in any way? Yeah, I know. Possible oil pump problem but I'm really trying to avoid those thoughts.

Well, I went out and checked the filter orientation and sure enough, the big grommet was on the top facing out, not the bottom. I switched it around but the light still came on. Shut it off and went out and stayed out. I'm gonna sleep on this and try in the morning when it's cool and see what I get.

I usually find that right after changing the oil, I'll get a pressure light for a few seconds when I start the engine, until the oil filter canister and all of the oil passages get re-filled.
It may be that you've solved the problem by correcting the filter installation, but you just got the warning light one last time because the filter housing was empty when you re-started the car.

I replaced mine about 6 months ago it started coming on and off intermittently and usually more after a oil change. Mine would just flicker at first then just stayed on but would go off after a restart.
It is a kinda a pain in the *** to get off only because it is hard to get to. About a 20 minute job.

Update: I had a few quarts of M1 lying around so I went out, bought a couple more and a new filter. First thing, I don't know if it's me imagining it or if it's true but the new filter seems to fit a little more snugly in the housing. Changed filter and oil to M1 5W-30. Startup, light comes on (in any car) and rattles in top end for a few seconds then light and noise stop at same time. I took this as a good sign that there is pressure. Leave car running for a minute or so and shut off. Level is perfect so I clean up. Start again, no noise, no light so as of now, I'm in the clear. The next few days will tell me, though. It took a few days to do it the last time, as well. I'm hoping it was the old filter was a little too small and oil didn't build the required pressure.
