Put car in reverse does not move (sporadic)
I proudly on a 2005 Mini Cooper (owned since April 2008) the car has ~32,000 miles, however the issue I am about to describe has only a happened a few times, but it has me concerned with how the car operates.
When I put the car in reverse (automatic transmission) the car will usually catch the gears no problem. It has been about 5 times now since April that when I put the car in reverse and step on the accelerator nothing happens. That is nothing happens until I step on the accelerator harder than usual and then the car lurches backward. I have tried putting the car back into park and then try to re-engage the transmission and still no luck until I press hard on the acelerator. This morning it occured again and this time, instead of being close to the house in the driveway when this occured I was far enough away to put the car in drive and then try to move forward, this time it did not catch in drive either until I pressed hard on the accelerator.
Can anyone provide some assistance on this matter? I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer on Monday and would like to have some educated opinions on this. I have my own, however I am not familiar with the Mini Cooper Transmissions as I have only had the vehicle since April.
Thanks,
MCUSA
