code p0130 in 04 MCS

Hi everyone,
My 04 MCS (with 145,000km on it and it's a stock except for the Volt exhaust) has just throw me a P0130 code this morning according to the Scangauge II. Understand that it's the O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 malfunction. Since it's Sunday today and I have many errands to run, do you think it's ok to drive it as usual for the day. I'm probably going to put at least 300km until I can get it fixed on Monday.

By the way, I was trying to clear the code from the Scangauge II, the code had been cleared but the SEL stayed on then it threw the same code again right away. My question is that will the SEL light go off itself once I have the malfunctioned O2 sensor replaced or I have to reset it in the dealer?

Thanks for your time ...

Cheers
Stephen

oxygen sensor

The code will stay off after sensor replaced (if not a connection problem) when removed by the Scan-II. Highly recommend replacing with Bosch Oxygen sensor(s). I used another brand and had lots of problem, then I replaced with Bosch, erased the code and happy ever since.

Thanks for the tips of Bosch O2 sensor. So I'm not going to get it from the dealer then... Any idea how much will it cost? If the code is off after replacing the sensor, will the SEL light be off at the same time as well?
Thanks again

yes after the code is cleared the sel will stay off unless the offending item trips the code again.

I think anywhere from 20-50 usd depending on the model.

You should be ok to drive but get it fixed as soon as possible so you don't incurr damage to the catalytic converter.

It's crazy. I've just checked with Parts Source and they told me it costs CAD$350 plus taxes for one Bosch O2 sensor...?? Does it make sense to you guys? Anyone knows how much will it cost from the dealer?

oxygen sensor

They are rather pricey, I bought mine from Advance Auto Part/Parts America for about $150.00 each. May be good to shop more but be sure to get Bosch. If yours are the originals, I'd replace both as Mini recommendations is the replace @ 100K (for non-s). Also, it is ok to drive current state, just may not have optimal fuel mixture/emissions control till corrected.

P0130 When Wet

So,
I have been getting a P0130 only when wet,
I washed the car, and under hood, Lamp came once
Cleared code Car ran perfect.

Then a wet slushy snow that melted off in a few hours happened, and check engine lamp came on,

Now its dry , no more code, i have checked the connector and it looks dry and all rubber seals are in place,

Any one had this issue?
