Spontaneous opening of doors and sunroof

Had 2007 Cooper S at dealer for 20,000 mile service...when I got the car back, the car would not stay locked and the windows and sunroof opened seemingly on their own...would not have complained too much but car was in a parking lot outside and it rained cats and small dogs drenching interior...closed windows and pushed lock on key fob and within thirty seconds or less the windows came down and the roof opened...what the heck is going on????

sounds like your drivers door lock microswitch is sending an "open" signal to the footwell module... kinda like using your convenience opening, where the windows/sunroof/conv.top open all at once.

good luck!

This happened to me last night. I parked my car in San Francisco at night with my laptop bag in the boot, came down and saw both windows were half way down. I thought I accidentally pressed the key but this morning I realized that the sunroof would be half open too if the keyfob was pressed. I had this problem before but the only thing they could do was reset the window. Lucky my laptop wasn't stolen last night. I'm taking the car to the dealer on Thursday.

Well, you were fortunate...the dealer told me that the system had to be reset...they had done a routine maintenance the day it first happened and apparently set it incorrectly...went back and it was reset and has been okay since...of course, the interior of the car was soaked and the dealer claimed that they dried it out, which they didn't and that they replaced the rear mats, which was not done either...but nothing was stolen and that is a good thing for both of us!!

I had this problem with my 07 about a year ago. It did end up being the microswitch in the drivers door. Took the dealer quite a while to find it. It's been fine since they replaced the switch.
