changed oil now engine light comes on

changed the oil in my 02 cooper s 2 days ago and now the engine light comes.
went and reset the mileage according to the post to do it.

but here is the thing it comes on in the morning on the way to work, first the traction control light comes on then the engine light a few miles later.

the engine light ends up being the cam sensor.

I get to work clear the code(I manage a auto store) and it is fine until the next morning.

I cant tell what it is if the code is a real code, it should come back when i start it up again and drive home.

I have now un-hooked the battery and turned the key on so maybe that will solve it.

any other help is appreciated

just a couple of questions...

how much oil did you put back in the engine?
what viscosity oil did you use?
is there only one fault in the dme?
does the car run ok besides the light?

put 5-30 mobile 1 in it(was told that was in it origionaly)
put 5 quarts in then ran it to cycle the system than topped off to the full on the stick.
only the one code(didnt come on today but the asc still turned off, turned car off then back on and works fine)
yeah runs fine no hesitation, miss, or any other sign drives like it did before.

Full should be only 4.5 quarts.

I am never a fan of coincidental failures so perhaps you are simply over full? How much did you put in to "top it off"?

not even quarter quart, i checked that when it came on thinking it had to be something dumb like that but it was 6am and really dark and hard to tell.

so according to what you have it could be 3/4 quarter over what it should be.

also when I was changing the susp. I did notice that the oil that drained from the old filter was all over the pass tire so that could trip the asc if that tire was constantly trying to spin.
