Tailpipe recall
#2
Yes I did yesterday in the mail from MINI USA although I had it taken care of already on the 2nd when my Mini was in for service.
BTW there is a thread in Coupe Talk (2007+) regarding the recall:

I was in for maintanence last week and when I went to pick up the MINI they just told me, "by the way, we replaced your tail pipes". I had never received a notice, and was a bit surprised. In fact, I said "noooooo" and went right out to look at the MINI, which was parked in front.
I can definitely see the difference, but they look fine. In fact, they look a bit more "stock" than the originals. The thing is, I kinda liked the aggressive look of the older, longer ones. But, there you go.

I had my MINI in for service and explicitly told them "my tailpipes are positioned as I see fit and will not be touched by anyone but me, thank you." They helped both of us by entering into their system they "did" the "fix" so the issue will not have be address again. So for those out there that don't want the NHTSA to highjack your exhaust tips' freedom, there is a workaround.

I received my notice, unfortunately. I figured I was safe, being in Canada, but apparently not. Does anyone know how they work the recall with cars fitted with the JCW kit? The guy I spoke with at the dealer didn't seem to know as they haven't performed the work on a JCW exhaust, but he didn't seem to think they would need any special parts. I'm booked in for next Thursday. :(
I'll try to convince them that it isn't necessary, but doubt I'll be successful.

Just be sure they don't try and stick you with non-JCW tips.

So, they actually replace the tips? I'd better call the dealer back.
I thought I had read that they remove the tips, shorten the end of the pipes, and then put the tips back on. The recall notice states that they replace the 'tailpipe extension' with a 'new shortened version'. To mean, that sounds like they are putting new tips on the end, which isn't good, unless they have new JCW tips.
