mushy brake pedal

mushy brake pedal
I am at a loss as to why my brake pedal is mushy in our '02 MCS. I can't get a firm pedal even after repeated pumping, and I hear a whooshing or squishing sound from the pedal area when I pump the brake pedal.
I've bled the system 4x (with a pressure bleeder and by foot) and have no air bubbles in the lines. I also have new rotors and pads all around. When I bled the system I also bled the clutch (##$!%*?? job) and replaced a leaking slave cylinder. The only remaining links in the hydraulic system I can think of are the booster and the master cylinder, although how the master would affect the brake pedal is a mystery.
Any suggestions?
Ian

Check the rear pads, there have been many where the inside pad is not clipped to the piston and that causes what you are talking about. IF both rear inside pads are clipped then look at a twisted rubber line and if they are fine then it's down to the booster and or master. Also check for caliper leaks.
