Dome light keeps flashing while driving... why?

I have an 05 MCS Cabrio and for the past couple of days, my interior dome light flashes on and off by itself. What does this mean and how do I make it stop? Thanks!

Does it flash when the car is OFF and stopped, with the door open? or only when moving? Does it flash faster when moving faster? Have you removed it and verified that it is securely mounted?
Have you replaced the bulb? Please give more details for further help.

It only flashes while driving and it slowly brightens up & then slowly dims out like some kind of warning. It seems like maybe it does it after shifting gears but I'm not 100% on that.

Stop playing Disco on your stereo! Seriously though, I would suspect a faulty door switch.

if im not mistaken...theres a switch in the door latch which seems to be freaking out

try opening the door on a side road at slow speeds and see if the light stops flashing and just comes on. if it does id say look at the latch.

One question on the convertible version? does it have the same 3 position switch as on the HT model? OFF, DOOR (on when doors opened) and ON. If in the OFF position does this still happen? or only on DOOR? or flicker if ON when driving? As others have stated, check the door latch switch, but in the OFF position should not matter what the DOOR switch does! It should just be OFF, unless the switch is different?

Hope you're able to find it easily, and it's just the door switch. There is electrical contact cleaner that may help it if it is this....GOOD LUCK!!!! let us know.

Regards

Scott.

I have a convertible, and no, it does not have the 3 position switch. Rather it has a simple push button. Push on/ push off. When doors open, lights go on automatically. No choice here. You can push the button after they "auto" light up to turn them off.

If the convertible only has an on/off switch, then as others have suggested check the door switch. It is likely a ground/shorting issue in that area I would think. I also would disconnect the bulb until it can be corrected. It very well is corroded.
