Mini sport seats jams when lever used in wrong direction
#1
Hi everybody,
I'm having problems with my Mini 2002 sport seats (leather). Every time someone tries to tilt the seat they do it using the lever in the wrong direction which results in the seat being blocked in an unuseable position.
(both seats have this problem).
I end up having to explain what to do and especially what not to do - very frustrating and so obvious as a misconception.
Anyone having the same problem?
Is this a manufacturing problem that should be solved by BMW?
Is there an official document from BMW stating this (as well as the replacement of the noisy whining power steering pump?) ?
My garage here in Brussels (Belgium) is giving me a hard time concerning these little discomforts?
Have a nice day & enjoy your mini (as I do!).

The seat controls are odd from what I understand but they are not defective. The mannual has operating instructions so if they break because of their aukward operation , they won't be covered under waranty. 2003's are suppose to have different seat controls. As for the stearing pump... also normal. I had heard a rumor that they had found a slightly quieter pump and would replace the original pump if the owner complained, once the parts became avallible. But as far as I know that was only a rumor...nothing official. Some of the tight streets in Belgium must be great fun for driving the MINI!!! I hope this helps

hi!
Really bad is the day when mini got transfered to BMW. I have a problem with my new mini cooper and for three months i have no response from my local dealer here in germany !!!!! shame, u are not the only 1 having problems with BMW. what a service dont u think so?
the problem that i have is a strange noise on the left front side of the car, when driving slowly or turning left or right. I have no idea where its coming from!
have u experience something like this on your car?????
cheers!

the seat back adjustment levers are a problem and BMW made changes in june 02 production that consisted of eliminating the operation arrows in favor of a bold "pull" icon hot stamped on the seat back adj.lever. I still have to instruct any passenger who tries unsuccessfully to adjust the seat by cranking the outboard lever to try the inside lever. this will not go away! dealer had to take seat apart to repair the lever the first time = 45 minutes.
