speedometer problem

Bought an '04 Cooper S a few weeks ago with 50k miles. Took it for a spin on the Blue Ridge Parkway today and I noticed my speedo was reading 30 to 35 mph more than the navigation system on the tach. when I parked in the driveway, the needle remained on 30.

Anybody have an idea for me?

hmm...

well, mine reads 17 mph under and when the car is off it rests in the temp gauge. Mini took off the needle and set it at 0, but that only lasted for a few hours. they said i'd need to replace the speedo for about $900, so i'm just dealing with doing addition every day instead of spending that much. if you figure anything out, let me know!

You might want to try disconnecting the battery for 15 mins or so and see if the reset fixes it.

Or try the procedure in this post
