that's good news and cheaper then a dme . pm frenchie or doc o but i'd think some volts shouldsa been on one of those wires , or both . you could pull the plug and ohm from one wire to the others . go from pin the hot plugs into to each of the others one at a time . not the wires but the sensor unplugged . some value of ohms i would think would be there . but you need a better opinion than mine . the guy that posted about the sensor may have prior experience to draw from .

So i took the car to an independant bmw shop and they also concluded to a bad dme. Many people are telling me i have to have a new dme and others are saying i can get by with a used dme with the same numbers. The dealer is saying that 90% it will not be covered due to my slight mods of intake, exhaust, headers, and 15% pulley. New dme is 1300.00 kinda steep for being in a bad economy.

I definitely go with a used one. Contact your local salvage yards as some have their inventories in a database. The MINI part # for an '05 MCSw/manual is 12147562640. If you have no luck with the locals these guys will find you a new or used one for a decent price.

What year is your car? Federal regulations require manufacturers to warranty every part of emissions system, expressly including the dme, for cars built after a certain year. You can check it out by searching emissions warranty on the EPA's website.
My dme failed (sounds very similar to your experience with the coil fault codes), and the dealer said they weren't going to cover it (I have similar mods on my car, except the header). I raised hell with them and explained that THEY had the obligation to demonstrate that my mods caused the failure in the dme, and that I would be all too happy to notify the EPA. After a bunch of back-and-forth, they capitulated and gave me my car back with a new dme - needless to say, they didn't write the job up or give me any paperwork whatsoever. But, for a $2000 fix, I didn't mind.
