Looking for a good MINI mechanic in Florida for a slipping clutch....
Ok, I have a 2006 MINI Cooper R50. It has 39,000 miles (just missed the 36,000 cut off for service, bastards)!!! Recently, I've had some power loss issues (electrical power), and the clutch keeps slipping. The car starts hard, and the computer and clock get reset. The battery and its terminals look clean and tight. Also, on the highway, if I give it a lot of gas in 5th gear, or downshift, the gear slips out and the engine revs high. It is doing it more often. We took the car into the dealer at 35~something thousand miles, and they said the on board computer said it wasn't ready for an oil change. All they did was flush the brake fluid and tell me I needed an entire new clutch assembly, and to bring it back when for it when the oil needed to be changed. By the time the computer figured the oil change, we were past the service plan, and now we need a new clutch. We took it back to the dealer, and now they want $1500 for a whole new clutch assembly.
I'm just wondering if there is anyone on here anywhere in South or Central Florida that knows someone they trust that does good work on MINIs, not the stealership!
Thanx...
