Great thread, I'm about to change my fan assembly too since my 1st stage has gone belly up.

One thing that I didn't understand was on how to get the two plug (2pin + 3 pin) fan since there is no way to choose or differentiate on rockauto, amazon or any other site.

Thanks!

What the *#^!?

Yesterday, I took a run down to the store. About a 5 minute trip there. When I got home, I let the car idle for a bit (2-3 minutes) while I spoke to my neighbor. Drove he car in the garage and heard a noise that sounded like a fan rattle so, I turned the car off and opened the hood. My coolant tank was gushing!!! I could'nt figure out what the heck was going on. Did some searching in the NAM site and thought it might be my thermostat since I am @ 170k and still on the original. So, I changed it out today. Took the car for a drive. All is normal.....let the car idle again.....there it is again... that same noise!! Turned the car off opened the hood looked down at the fan and noticed it wasn't moving. So, I gave it a small spin to see if it was jammed up.

The bloody thing fell off of the pin that is holding it in the center of the shroud!!!!

Lucky I have a long weekend coming up in a few days so I can fix it but then I have to drive it to work in the meantime.

So my question is....
Is there a good DIY w/ pics?
Who makes a reliable fan for an 03S?
How much and
how long does it take to get it?

Thanks in advance!!

On the Rockauto site, the two plug fans are the ones identified as
"to 3/03" and the 1 plug ones are identified as "from 3/03".
Wouldn't hurt to talk to a person when ordering (although sometimes that can backfire too).

Has anyone found a good fan replacement? Does anyone make a fan that is faster than the original fan?

2006 MINI COOLING FAN P/N BMW is 17-11-7-541-092

Hello all.....First post here but I am a longtime reader. I own a 2006 Mini Cooper S R52 late build. I wanted to let all of you know that the BMW part number for the cooling fan of this vehicle as per BMW is 17-11-7-541-092.

I am posting this info because those A/Hole parts guys at my BMW dealer would not give it to me so I could try and buy it online.

2006 MINI COOPER RADIATOR COOLING FAN PART NUMBER IS BMW PART NUMBER IS 17-11-7-541-092

I am told that the only difference in the early and late builds is the thickness of the wheel studs for the two. The late build wheel studs are thicker, keep this in mind when you are replacing brake rotors and pads.

EVERYTHING CHANGED FOR THE 2008 MODEL YEAR.

THE SITE IS NOT LETTING ME LOAD PICS AT THIS TIME. EMAIL ME IF YOU NEED TO SEE THEM.

Just ordered my fan from RockAuto.com. Got my cars lack of A/C diagnosed as needing a new fan, compressor, dryer, and condenser. No idea why it would need a new condenser!

So, I'm going to replace the fan and see if that fixes it, since I have read that the A/C compressor is controlled by the fan in some way.

Fingers crossed I can get out of this mess for $81!

Do you know if it is possible to mount the 1 plug one into the two plug fan version?

Radiator Choices and Installation

The prices on radiators is all over the map from $60.00-$400.00! I have a 2003 MINI base and not sure about what one to buy, and questions about EOC, TOC, trans cooler, engine cooler, ECT. Any help on a good pick and any good links on the installation, (hoping no to discharge the AC system), AL.
