Really difficult to shift

I apologize in advance if this is a wrong forum to post in.

2009 Mini, automatic, I find that changing from P>D/P>R, or D>P/D>R takes some force! I am not a small guy, but I have to sqeeze the **** real hard to move it. My wife will be driving the car soon and she sure as hell going to have hard time with it.

Any ideas?

My only previous experience driving was with Mazdas and a baby could shift in those...

Thanks in advance.

The shift lock might be out of adjustment, not sure how or if you can adjust it yourself...

Yep, sounds like something is out of adjustment, should be a fairly simple bit of warrenty work for the dealer.
