Car wont start.

I went to start my car today and it didnt start, the lights would just flicker and there was a clicking noise. Also i opened the battery compartment and there was some water on the bottom of it. None above the carpet, just in the battery compartment. The battery is showing a green color which means its good. All my gauges reset also when i tried to start it.

Even the gas gauge would jump around then settle. Any ideas? I disconexcted the negative side and tryed again but nothing happened. Could this be the battery?

yes.. it could be the battery. First I would get that water out of the battery compartment and try to find where its coming from. Water in the battery Compartment is a BAD thing!! It can ruin alot more than you want to pay for.

Im charging the battery right now, the water was literally only in the battery part and no where else. Any ideas what this means or has this happened to anyone else. I thought maybe it was from the battery but i have no idea how batterys work.

I'm not sure about the water, but the symptoms your describing is usually fixed by replacing the battery. Happened to me before.

Bad battery. Sounds like it got hot and maybe some condensation on the top.

If you got more than 3 yrs out of the battery you are lucky.

Might be worth checking the grounding strap on the passenger side of the motor is also tight. That can cause similar symptoms.

As for water leaks... I have seen the 3rd Brake light leak, Also have seen water come in from under the plastic clips that hold on the chrome trim at the bottom of rear glass. Also have seen water leak in from trunk handle srcrews, and the body vents under the rear bumper cover. If you have a sunroof the hose could be leaking but normally the headliner would also be wet too. I would pull the panel off the inside of the trunk and close it and have someone hose the trunk. Stay on the inside and grab a flash light and find the leak.

Im thinking it was the battery getting too hot. Because it rained again today and it was spotless in there. I charged the batter and it worked but i didnt leave anylights on and it just died. I guess i should replace it? Any reviews on Helix's lightweight battery? Thanks guys, i freaked out when i saw water in there.
