Broken seat - I have to motor alone

My passenger seat is broken in the forward position. It goes forward to let a passenger in the back but it will only go to the first click and no further. So no one can sit in the seat because its leaning forward.

I had a mini tech look at it at Mini across the states and they said that the spring popped off and thats why its stuck.

How do I open the seat to fix the spring?

same thing happened to me in the first mini cooper i test drove.
dealer wouldn't fix the seat until after someone bought it (wasn't me).

its not too complicated to remove the seat to see where the spring has popped off, if you wanted to fix it yourself. (be sure not to start it or anything with the seat removed). there are a few write ups on how to do it. but you might get lucky and just be able to pop it back into place with the seat installed.
i'm assuming that these are the springs at the bottom of the seat.
