Metalic Clicking while turning

Lugs can loosen over time so I always double check them. I am not sure loose lugs causes the noise you mentioned. I sometimes get a speed sensitive chirp candence from my brake pads.

alright...digging this back up. it's warm out, windows down. click click click click...going back for another round of what can we figure out
has anyone got a "fix" with this problem?
i'm going to suggest, wheel bearing, cv joint, and axel? any other ideas to throw at em to think about?
i'm not quite upset with them yet but as this is going to be the 4th(i think) visit for the sound i'm getting very tired of their inability to sort it out.

My problem turned out to be the Wilwood brakes & I've found I have to chamfer the edges of the brake pads every 1,500 miles or live with the noise.
I doubt this is the same cause for your problem since you have stock brakes but you could try it to see what happens...
It's free & only takes 10 minutes with a file.
I used to cringe every time I heard this noise because I thought some part of my drivetrain was going to expload. Now I can ignore it if I don't have time to file the pads every 1,500 miles.

took it last wens. they kept it till friday...looking deep into it. they called, excited, it was torn and stretched nylon straps that hold the exhaust and when it got hot rattled around...i thought, maybe? sounds feasible... rained all weekend, nice and sunny yesterday so had the windows down...click click click...so this morning i went in as i was at a meeting by the dealer. they pulled the shop foreman and he came out, had a listen and says he'll go after it when i get it in. i say i've read on here that it sounds like a cv joint. he say's thats the first thing that comes to mind. i then said the cv joint was supposedly checked last fall, on the 2nd or 3 visits for this issue...

for anyone caring...
i've forgot to update the thread. they changed the pass. side axle/cv assembly, then after that didn't work, the driver side. THEN they forwarded this to "mini engineering" today. as it's been explained to me now the dealer is just the eyes and ears of these super mini engineer people. they decided today they are going to replace the transmission. i don't see how this could be associated unless it's a package with some joint or something... regardless. i've got a bunch of new parts at 35k and they're not done yet. hopefully they can find it!

Thanks for updating...
Too many of these "I have this problem..." threads on internet forums just end, with no resolution. I'm sick of reading through threads that contain about 200 posts - only to come to one that goes something like this - - " well, I've just tried this or that fix, I'm sure it will work, and I'll update tomorrow as soon as I'm done..." Then the thread just ends, no update, no nothing. Very frustrating!!! Seems to me that about 95% of computer-problem-related threads on computer forums end like that.
So - - update away, please!!, until you finally find a resolution to your dilemna. That way this thread may be of use to some future generation of MINI owners who may encounter the same problem.
Plus, you don't want to frustrate me any more, do you???

Transmission is in, picked up the car last night, no clicking this morning. I'll believe it after a half dozen "no clicking" days. fingers crossed. i asked about the limited slip diff being swapped too and the SA wasn't quite sure. Maybe it's part of the transmission replacement? I don't know if when you buy the LSD if you get an entirely differently transmission (std 6 speed with the LSD pre attached or something)

It's sad that tech's at dealerships only know how to do one mechanical job on modern cars... plug the diagnostic computer into the car.
I bet if you took it to an independent, the old guy with the grey beard would have told you cv boot or wheel bearing after hearing one tick.
