Hesitation

I have had my 08 MCS Vert about 2 weeks now. I bought it from the original owner with 30K miles on it. I have been very happy with it, but I do notice on an ever so slight hesitation when hitting the gas pedal. Most people probably would not pick up on the hestation, but I do. No other symptoms. I am going to add some fuel additive and see if that improves the situation. 30K seems a little too soon for changing spark plugs. I suppose I could pull the plugs and see if I see anything unusual. The previous owner bought the car Mar 08 and put 30K miles on the car between then and Jul 09. I do have the extended maintenance on the car (6yr/100K). As nice as it is, it is a little bit of a pain as the Mini dealer is abut 45 mins. from my house or work.

I guess I ought to read the owner's manual at some point in time.

Any ideas or suggestions?

It is not a problem, it is the damn drive by wire throttle. Nothing you can do about it...

This is the 1st. generation forum. You'd wanna post over at 2nd generation. Also I drove my cousin's R56 several times, and I think it lags in first gear. Could be the turbo.

The good news is something can be done about it; the product is called Sprint Booster! Contact NAM sponsor Mini Mania.

I have noticed a bad flat spot between 2700 and 3700 RPM lately. It is really noticeable under about half throttle. I can pull away from a light and at about 2700 RPM it feels like I have lifted the gas pedal and I can then floor it, but it will nto really take off until it gets about at least 3500 RPM.

If I start out under full throttel it seems just like before.

I have adjusted my bypass valve and did the VGS mod years ago plus I have a 15% pulley from about 8k miles and this has only started in the last few months. This is a 10/2003 build 2004 with about 52k on it.

I thought about trying the reset the ECU to see if it helps.

I have also thought about just doing a tune as some of them also remap the throttle do they not?

As SomeGuy said, an inherent thing. When I got my 15% pulley, it seemed to have gone away. Once I got over the thrill of newness, I realized it IS still there, just much less.

No, you have an R56 which is a Gen 2... read the forum detail information:
