My local Mini dealer won't look for the cause for an annoying metallic clicking noise that happens when turning while NOT using the brakes 'till I remove my Wilwood brakes...

See thread below for details:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...e-turning.html

I just received all the stock parts less rotors from Dr Obnxs (WHAT A GUY!!!).

Would anyone be willing to have me pay shipping for their old stock rotors so I can return them 2- 4 weeks later?

Have you tried other means to discover the cause ? Seems like a lot of trouble to find the noise....

Things I would try first before removing BBK.

1) Check your brake sensor wire to see if it came loose and is dangling like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike tire....

2) Remove wheel tire where noise is coming from, examine brakes and assembly for malfunction, if nothing...

3) Rotate tires. ( does the noise follow the tire moved ?)

4) Have someone put vehicle up on rack - A Meineke Muffler Shop ? and look for something under the car near area of noise

5) FIND ANOTHER MINI DEALER......short answer, the one you went to suks.

My Wilwood BBK makes a weird metallic scraping on-off sound on one side only, and only while turning away from that side. I took the brake pads out and chamfered the leading edge. The noise went away.

Oh man, I just dumped a pair of heat-checked cryo rotors into the recycle bin yesterday. And to top it off, I'm local to you! Have you posted on psmini.org to see if anyone has a set lying around?

I saw your post on the other thread and I can't believe the shop foreman at Northwest MINI told you two piece rotors are illegal!

gray raven- I don't have sensors on my Wilwoods & I tried the rest of your solutions with no luck. There are no other dealers in my area, so this is my final option.

searocko- I guess I should of posted this last week instead of being lazy...

Do this. You should chamfer pads on most slotted rotors on the leading edge.

Sounds like an "overtightened hub" to me if you can locate it to a specific wheel.

Also I'd be looking for a good BMW or European car specialist shop, or be making a bit of a drive to save from having to replace an entire brake system.

Dinan604- It's a metallic clicking sound, but I may give the chamfering idea a try...

Motor On- The dealer checked the axle nuts last time I was there so that's not the problem. Also, finding another European car speacialist would cost me a lot of money- This should be a warranty issue. The only thing left is the transmission/LSD if the stock brakes don't make the noise go away & I aint paying for that fix on a car with 12K miles on it.

Back to my original request...

Anyone have some old stock rotors to borrow???
