Xenon Headlight Problem

Hello Everyone,

I'm having an issue with my driver's side xenon. Out of warranty of course.

It turns on only when it feels like it. I have to flick the lights usually a few times for it to come on.

I swapped the ballast with the other side and it still didn't work. So, I swapped the bulbs. That didn't work either!

I looked at the wiring harnesses from the ballast and I couldn't figure a way to swap them.

Is there any other way to try and figure out the problem? Or is it time for a new light?

Thanks,
Dave

I found this on "another site" and thought that maybe you should try it:

"You should see the Brown ( I think it is) Earth wire on the side of the inside lamp, just ensure this isn't dangling off or needs pushing back on further-it can be fiddly."

I am sure you have found that you are not the only one with this problem.

Some have suggested that this is the igniter having problems yet
many of those that have had this issue bought new lights and have not had any problems thereafter.

Here are some sites that might be of interest to you. Good Luck:

Your problem would mostly likely be the ignitor. My cousin had his ignitor on his M3 die and he replaced it and the problem never came back. If you look online you maybe able to find a stock ignitor for cheap.

I see... I'll have to check for that wire. Thanks for your help.

Now, when you say ignitor, do you mean the ignitor bulb? Because, if that's what it is, that's one of the parts I've already tried switching.

This should explain a lot and hopefully you do not have to pay $350 for two new headlights:

Good luck
