I downshifted too soon and shot up my RPMS. I don't think it went past 4k, so not in the "red zone", but right after my 'Service Engine Soon" lamp came on (but not the high RPM warning lamp). I'm going to take the car in but anyone have any thoughts? The RPM warning light also came on last week with a similar spike in RPMS. I don't try to make a habit of driving poorly-just a coincidence.
I did not know there was a high RPM warning light. I have hit the rev limiter many times but have never had a light come on. What light (what icon) came on?
Quikmni-I assume that's what it was-it looks like a little tach pointing to the "3k" spot on the dial. It didn't come on today-just the service light. Did hitting the limiter throw a code you had to reset?
also be careful in the down shifts as i dont believe we are protected . fuel i believe is cut if overrev in acceleration . but in engine breaking dont think anything can stop an over rev .
