I finally got my dream car this month. 2004 MINI I purchased from my step-daughter. The car has a electrical problem. The problem originated when the sun roof was left open in a Alabama rain strom. It was taken to a shop and suppoesdly fixed. Well it has problems. The radio will work if you turn it prior to engaging the starter. The volume once the engine is running can not be adjusted. Hair pin turns at 100, I'm ok with the radio. The sun roof works when it wants to. Hair pin turns at 100, I'm ok with the sunroof. The control head-ac/heater does not work at all. Twice I got the lights to glow but the blower never cut on. Living in Wisconsin and winter coming, I'm not ok with this. Bottom line does sound like a trip to the dealer or is it a sticking relay or open ground.

As for the electrical gremlins I'd suggest finding a GOOD shop that specializes in electrical repairs. Ninety percent of the time the fix is relatively simple. FINDING the problem is the expensive part. A lot of shops, including stealerships, will charge you by the hour for diagnosing. But I would stay clear of the dealer for this issue. Be aware about this. Good luck!

 

OP were going to move ya over to the first gen problems forum (02-06) to see if there are answers or advice for yr 04. This one's for 07 and on, completely diff beast.
