Power Steering and RPM

Power Steering and RPM
Hi all,
Just want to start off saying Hi. I'm a new Mini owner (2003 MC, non S). We bought it with 78k on the odo.
After reading some horrifying stories about the PS pump, I contacted the previous owner. He promptly sent me the receipt that shows he changed the PS pump at around 76k mile about 1 month ago.
Is it safe to assume I have the new pump and the problem won't happen?
Also, I notice that when idle and I turn the steering wheel, my RPM would drop about 50 to 100 rpm then back up as I stop turning the wheel. Is this normal?
Thank you,
Phantom
BTW, the marketplace is great. Bought a few interior pieces from the members and they have shipped them very promptly. Better than eBay!!!

Its normal for the RPM to drop in idle when turning the wheel. The reason being that turning the wheel put more load on the pump motor, putting more load on the alternator, putting more load on the engine. It takes the motor a moment to compensate for that so that is why you see an rpm drop.
