Vandalized steering wheel emblem

Hi everyone. This is my first post, so forgive any mistakes. I have an '05 MCS convertible. The other day, I left the top down, and when I came back, someone had tried to pry the "Mini" emblem out of the steering wheel. When I went to the dealer, they told me that they only sold the steering wheel center cap as part of the airbag assembly. My question is dealership aside, is there any way to replace just the center emblem without replacing the whole airbag.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Well you can replace the whole cover separately I think, but I know for a fact you cant get the emblem by itself.

Check here http://aestheticreations.net/3ddomeddecals.htm
Scroll down to the 2nd row from the bottom.
Maybe someone else knows of other places, but they are the only ones I know of who sell them.

I'm sorry to hear that happen to a lovely Cabrio. Just one more reason for me to keep the windows up when I park with the top down.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to try and get one today. I can't stand looking at it, and I do every time I get in the car.

How is this emblem installed?

The Mini emblem is welded to the back side of the airbag cover. So does it have to be torn off?

Thanks for that link! The emblem on my steering wheel started to peel up on the right-side wing tip a week or so ago (or, anyway, that's when i noticed it). I was thinking of making a warranty claim on it... but for $5, i'll just buy a replacement or two and take care of it myself.

The emblem on my 1st mini (used 2007) was damaged. I noticed after the purchase and complained to the BMW dealership. After much going back and forth, it turned out that if the emblem is damaged there is a possibility for the airbag to malfunction. Something about a sensor behind the emblem, which if the emblem is damaged the airbag could go off. I sugest you check in with the dealership. That's why the emblem can't be fixed without the whole airbag being replaced. There might be a bulletin on it, as the SA mention there was one posted, but I couldn't find it. Maybe your car insurance will cover it. Get it checked.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the info. I'll call my insurance company about covering it.
