New owner with a random coolant leak
I’ve had my gen 1 ‘06 MCS for a month now. I tried to get answers from the 1st gear forum and searching but have a few that went unanswered.
After about a week of ownership I noticed a random coolant leak. I know the dealer added some coolant gunk to prevent leaks but it’s just a temporary solution. Here is a picture of the leak. At first I thought it was the thermostat housing, but it looks like it might be too far forward. What else should I check? Looking at the engine bay this is on the right side of the block.
I added Craven Speed under tower indurators and tower defenders since the car had a little mushrooming and a light pull to the right. The car still has a slight pull; I would like to get an alignment. Can I take the car to a non Mini dealer for this? The closest Mini dealers are eight hours away.

It's most likely your Thermostat leaking. This is very common on the 05-06 MINI's. We have the new updated version in stock and ready to ship.

I finally figured out where the thermostat housing is located. There has been some leaking at some point (there are visible bluish spots on top of the housing). Its still under factory warranty but the nearest dealer is eight hours way so I will just do it myself.
The rear passenger window has been replaced at some point (I found broken glass under the rear carpet). Whoever installed the window did not set it properly or use the wrong window. Does anyone have any advice on fixing this? I am guessing its something for the dealer to handle.
Here are some pictures of the passenger side vs. drivers side.

Sorry I put the wrong link. But no the part number is the same, the only way to tell is to see it in person. Then new ones are clear, NOT white.

I've got that leak *again*. I had it a few years back and it was the thermostat housing. One of the tell tale signs, besides a puddle, is that when you first start out in the morning, you'll hear a sloshing sound coming from the dash. I *think* this is a result of water sloshing in the heater core since the system has lost pressure; can anyone confirm this and refresh my memory?
