2010 Mini backup problem

Just picked up my Chili Red Mini Thanksgiving weekend in Florida ...on our way home from a Disney Cruise....talk about and impulse buy.
We just stopped at the dealership to work out what color we wanted
since it was not far off the highway....and drove off in one a few hours later.

Anyway

I have a base mini with automatic
Occasionally when I put it in reverse I need to step on the gas to get it to
start backing up....almost like it sticks a bit.

Sometimes I just put it in reverse and take my foot off the brake and it starts to roll..........

Not sure if this is a problem or if I am doing something wrong. I can't seem to figure out why it happens sometimes and other times it seems fine
The first time it happened I thought I stuck the front bumper on the curb.

No dealer here in Raleigh yet.....the closest dealer is a few hours away

Just thought I would ask
Thanks

A few suggestions. Call the dealer, explain the problem, let them tell you what they think. Or, see if there is a MINI club around, find an owner or two with a similar car as yours, ask them questions or drive their car. Or, take a road trip! Sounds like a good excuse for a few hour trip. Go to lunch, make it a day. Its a good excuse to make friends at your "local" MINI dealer.

This is the hill-hold-assist feature. All MINI's (2007 and newer) have it. If you're on a hill or slight incline, the MINI will hold the brakes for 2 seconds and then release them. This is to prevent the car from rolling backward if in drive and forward if in reverse to give you time to go from brake to gas.

I love this feature. In fact, if you pay close attention, you when you're stopped on a hill, you may feel the brake pedal vibrate or hear a click. It's just this feature.

I doubt anything is wrong with your car. Just play with it!

awesome....thanks for posting thisMINIdean
I mentioned something in an email to the salesperson but he didn't seem to
understand what I was saying....I really wasn't sure how to describe it
But it does seem to happen when I am at work on a small incline front down
and I am backing up...not everytime but I will pay more attention to it now that I know what it is

When I put mine in reverse it starts rolling as soon as I let go of the brakes on level ground.

I tested my automatic on a hill, started going up, came to a full stop, let go of the brake and it rolled back... Is hill assist an option? I certainly don't have in on my 08...

I think this is normal behaviour, I've had the same thing happen with base auto Cooper. If concerned, visit your dealer.
