Does Anyone Know how to Reset the Pinch Protection Feature in 2009 Mini Cooper S

I was messing around in my cooper last night while at the gym and i accidentally activated the pinch protection on my driver's side window. It still rolls DOWN automatically by pressing the button briefly, but i can no longer roll it UP automatically. Furthermore, when it gets to the top it activates the pinch protection and it rolls back down about 1/4" and then i have to re-roll it up.

Also, when i open/close the door the window no longer rolls down a bit to accommodate a smooth closing.

Does anyone know how to re-set this feature? I searched the forums and didn't see anything.

Thanks much people!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I think you have to roll the window down and hold the button for 5 to ten seconds and then roll the window up holding the button for an additional 5 to 10.

Someone will have to confirm that though.

Same thig happened to me. It gets progressively worse. search for "window dipper" in "stock problems/issues" forum. It is a very common problem. I just had the dealer reprogram/reflash my car to fix it. Most all dealers are aware of this issue. Unfortunately for me the reflash also impaired my performance. (See my thread in JCW factory forum). Dont let my experience deter you from letting the dealer fix it though. Its really the best and only way to fix the window insanity that i know of.

Weird. I thought my window does not go up automatically at all, only down. Is this not the case?

Grrr, I had this problem, and the roll down hold down didn't work. I disconnected the battery overnight, and it was functional the next day.

Stupid computers.

Auto-up was added as a feature sometime later in the 2007 MY, so you may or may not have it depending on how early you bought your MINI.

For what it is worth my 08 Built 4/08 has auto up on the windows and has "lost" its programming for the windows three or four times. And you have to go to the dealer to get it reset. However, I am extremely intrigued by the one comment of disconnecting the battery fixed it. You could be on to something there as I don't know if anyone else has reported on trying that method. COOL!

What is the fix - reprogramming? Please report how it goes.

all fixed, but not sure how the computer can get out of sync. I am a controls engineer, and I hat to see a generic fix of reseting, and reprogramming.

Same issue.. Tried the down, hold down for 5 seconds, then up and hold for 5 seconds. No change.
Still going to search for forums, but sounds like a reprogram is in order.

the "roll down and hold down" fix may or may not work. I'm going back for my second reprogramming in March, my 2-year anniversary. I'd take it in sooner, but windows don't get much use in winter, so I might as well wait and get it done along with the other services I need at the 2-year mark.
