planning to get leds

i'm planning to replace my headlight/parking light bulbs to leds. see a lot of cheap but bright leds on ebay. do they need resistor to work on r53 pls ? any bulb out warning in r53 actually ?

i see in other post. it seems r56 has bulb out warning. stil can't find anything whether it wil trigger r53.

i gather some led has the bulit in resistor but the price is double. not so keen to pay that much for led

anyone can advise me pls

There is no bulb out warning on an R53 for any light on the car (except the turn signal, which does fast blinking for bulb out). The 1st gen MINI doesn't even have any indicator on the dash for bulb out.

this is awesome !! i think i'm gonna replace the headlight and parking light to leds !!

They will Flash fast you need to add a resistor to slow down the rate (they look more like strobe lights)...
I used Superbright LED ones they work awesome

I have LEDs as my Turn signal/driving lights. My car is in the shop, but I'll take pics when I get it back.

I use LEDs for my turn signals in the front, sidemarkers, and wheel arches. They are already built for the proper voltage, but the thing you need to remember is that heat is also a factor. It doesn't affect the turn signals because they are not on constantly. For lights such as the parking lights, you need to get LEDs with heatsinks on them.
