Same here, I've been noticing it with the colder weather this season... Who knows... maybe its just a Boston thing

It sounds like some type of electrical solenoid clicking though.

Anywho how was your commute yesterday?

Just a thought - has anyone checked for a defective or leaking "sound amplifier"? This is a piece that connects to the charge pipe just before the intake manifold and then to the firewall. This is to "pipe" sounds into the passenger compartment. You can see it in step 9 of the NM Engineering charge pipe replacement procedure. Have not seen much about these but it seem it could be a possibility.http://www.nm-eng.com/media/attachme...488855_ins.pdf

hate to reawaken this thread, but I figured doing so is better than starting a new one... Ever resolve this issue? I too have a clicking noise from same area but I have no clue what it is.

FYI - - I bought my MINI new in 2008, and it's been making this sound almost since I got it. It's very random, comes on and off at times, I could never figure out a pattern or a set of conditions that would consistently cause the "tick" to start/stop.

The sound has had no apparent effect on anything so far, other than the fact that I notice it and wonder what the hell it is.

As my car now has 93000km (~58,000 miles), I have long ago decided that it's just a MINI thing and ignore it.

As I said - - FYI.
